CHRISTMAS IN OHIO

Family Christmas in Ohio!
We have the same meal every year!
The one time of the year that Debbie cooks dinner from start to finish...well...almost!

Our little munchkins...

Our bro-in-law, Tom...he looks rather smart here, huh?!  Looks can be deceiving! :)

April...Brian's sis...love her!

Grandpa Tim...Check out the bows on that paper.  My kids know how to do it up right!

***Our little Mr. and Miss really got into wrapping presents from around the house.  Little Mr. made me a little tree ornament.  The excitement on their face when they gave us these presents meant more to me than anything.  I pray that they never lose the spirit of giving.  ***

Christmas Meal Comes Up Two Chicken Breasts Short

The following article was written by a friend of the family.  His wife works with my mother-in-law.  Like always, we have a wonderful Christmas with Brian's side of the family.  You know there will always be something hilarious that will happen to make it news worthy.  Rick really gave a cute spin on the events of our annual Christmas dinner.  You won't forget this article anytime soon...it makes me kick myself for not taking pictures.  We didn't realize it was so funny until we started to retell the story to others. By Rick McCrabb, ColumnistMy friend, Debbie, doesn’t cook.
She sends her pizza delivery man a Christmas card, she never looks at a menu at Frisch’s, and her kitchen is only for resale value.
Her used stove is brand new.
But once a year — when her husband, her son and daughter-in-law, her daughter and son-in-law, and her four grandchildren gather for Christmas — Debbie dusts off her apron, fumbles through her recipe card file, and shocks them with a home-cooked meal.
She’s like Santa. She delivers but once a year.
Last week, Debbie, 57, with a special chicken breast recipe a friend suggested in hand, went to Walmart to purchase the ingredients for her annual Christmas meal.
When she walked into the grocery section, she looked out of place — like Tom Brady in a toupee parlor.
An employee, who could see the confusion on Debbie’s face, asked: “May I help you?”
For the next hour or so, the woman Debbie called her “personal shopper,” filled Debbie’s cart with groceries.
Debbie prepared the meal for her family last week. By all reports, the meal was delicious. She did good.
But, since it’s Debbie, the story can’t end here. What fun would that be, right?
As Debbie dished out her chicken breasts — covered with cranberry sauce and Russian dressing — when she came to the last two plates, there were no more breasts.
There were 10 people at the dinner table, and eight breasts.
Finally, someone asked Debbie why she cooked eight breasts instead of, say, 10.
“The recipe only called for eight breasts,” she said. “It never dawned on me.”
In Debbie’s world, that makes perfect sense.
Later that night, Debbie’s children and grandchildren said they were still hungry. They wanted a pizza.
Debbie handled that task.
Without a recipe.

Other Christmas Celebrations

Did I mention that my daughter loves to listen to "ballet" music (classical)?  I mean LOVES it...like she requests it when she knows she is tired or needs to calm down.  It is the funniest thing.  She has been watching the Nutcracker over and over again too.  I guess all of this stirred a longing to be a ballerina.  We enrolled her last fall and she had her first showcase right before Christmas.  The girl cannot get enough and wants to be in more classes!  Our little penguin was something special!

Little Man in the Christmas Program at our church!  Pretty funny!  There were so many kids on the risers that he kept falling off!  Too cute!

Christmas Celebrations @ School

I cannot tell you how much I love to see the look on my kiddle's faces when I walk into their schools.  I LOVE IT!  You can just see the pride and love ooze out of them.  They are excited to share with us a part of the lives that we don't always get to be a part of on a daily basis.

We kicked off the morning at Little Miss Peanut's preschool.  I heart their teachers!  Not only are they instilling the academics and social aspect of school, but biblical foundations as well.

Life really wouldn't be complete if I didn't have a "sitcom" moment...
That morning as I dressed Little Miss, I realized that I didn't have any clean "Santa" socks.  I decided to put her in Halloween socks because her boots covered the blinding orange color.  Wouldn't you know that the teachers had her take off her shoes and perform on stage...in front of EVERYONE...in her Halloween socks.  I really need to get my holidays and act together!

Later that afternoon, I hopped over to Little Man's school to help with his party.  He is pretty darn cute!

Bake Like Martha

You will never hear me call myself a Martha.  You will never hear Miss Dea call herself a Martha.  However, you may hear us say we want to bake cookies like Martha.  How does one do that?  Buy a Martha cookie press and give it a try.  It took a 2 batches of cookies before we figured out why the cookies weren't coming out pretty like Martha's.  We definitely aren't Marthas.  Apparently, we aren't Einsteins either!

I may not be a Martha, but my Little Miss is totally going to be a Martha.

Doesn't every little Martha have Diet Rite @ her tea parties?

SNOWY DAY

We have had quite a bit of snow.  The majority of the winter has been filled with the stuff.  Just as the snow melts, new snow begins to fall.  Now, I am all for snow if I have no where to go or I can grab a snow day from school.  Unfortunately, the state reduced our number of days to 3 causing our district to be a bit more stingy with calling school off.  Which in the end is a good thing because we won't have to tag on days to the end of our school year.  The worst part of not getting the snow days is when my family gets to have one.

My kids lay in the bed all bundled up and warm.
 I go to work.
That stinks.
My kids get to make forts with their Daddy.
I go to work
That stinks.
My kids get to play out in the snow.
I go to work.
That stinks...well, sort of...I don't really love being cold and they usually wait for me.
My kids are usually bundled up by ME.
I come home to get the kids dressed for the snow.
That stinks!

(the neighbor girls and Little Man have really been enjoying the snow)

Call Me Techie!

My parents blessed me with an iTouch for Christmas. To say I love it is an understatement! I originally wanted an iPhone, but Brian talked me out of it. He gave some good reasons to get my current phone...hmmmm... wonder if that was because the phone was free?
At the moment, I am trying to get all our Apple products synced up! I am finding all kinds of kid apps with some great mommy apps too! I can blog from this thing...like I am now! So cool! Thought I would share some random photos I have captured so far.

Thunder Game...

Trip home...scary! My Daddy is the master packer!

Basketball game...Little man with the players...
