Happy Father's Day...only like a month late...no biggie! HA! Father's Day fell on a Sunday. The Sunday after VBS which meant the service was their program. So fun!
Breakfast in bed complete with homemade biscuits and gravy.
Okay, I know that I am biased, but my family is gorgeous! I love this photo of Brian with the kids! I need to blow it up and hang it on the wall...so purty!
I was able to catch some great photos of the kids. The day was a beautiful one which made hanging outside intoxicating. My camera was feeling it too! I couldn't stop taking pictures!
Little Man striking a pose! Look at those guns!
Little Miss P's favorite thing is to pick flowers for me. 'Tis so sweet even when she pulls the whole flower out of the ground. Yikes. Be sure to zone in on how she presents the flower to me. She does this every time without fail. I love this girl!
Stay tuned...I plan on posting updates on basketball camps X 2, a carwash, vacation, my wrecks, baseball all-stars, everyday life, our anniversary, 80th birthday party, and 4th of July. I need all summer to catch up on posting our life! Whew and what a life it is! For those of you that are still processing the word wrecks, please know that is correct. That would be two within 24 hours!
Not only do I have a great father, but so do my little munchkins. We did our usual date night right before Father's Day. I didn't get pics of Brian out with Little Miss Peanut, but here are some photos of our night out with the kiddles.
DATE WITH DADDY to KINGS ISLAND! This was a great night for them because Little Man is officially tall enough to ride some of the coasters outside of kiddie land. LaRosa's pizza and blue ice cream made the night complete!
DATE WITH MOMMY took us to Frisch's Big Boy (her favorite) and to get our nails done.
I really need to get Brian to start carrying a camera on his date, so I can get a more detailed description of the order of events.
My kids got to take part in yet another wonderful Vacation Bible School put on by our church...directed by none other than the great Miss Carolyn. Little Miss is still SiNgInG her little heart out!
The props were incredible!
Little Man invited his friend. This little guy has been his buddy since he was born. His dance moves made me think that I needed a little guy of my own! Love him!
Little Miss Princess catching some bubbles during an outdoor activity. The kids were supposed to dress up in a pirate outfit. I pulled one out for Little Miss to wear and she told me it was ugly and "I a princess." Thus the outfit. Miss Carolyn has one of her walking the plank. Too funny. Pirates capture princesses, right?!?
I love this picture of my little monster and think the two in front of him are hilarious.
There is a first time for everything. You have heard that, right? Speaking of hearing...my neighbor is singing her out as she works in the yard which is something I should be doing, but instead I am being her cheerleader. Anwhoo,
See it. Believe it.
That is right...my baskets are empty and everything is put away. This happened just before we went on the family vacay. Had to get a photo! I got a little depressed thinking that my stuff was really still in a basket of sorts...our suitcases. I decided to take what I can get! I can proudly and honestly say they are still empty. Don't say, "YAH, Jayme" just yet. My clothes are laying in a neat stack on my floor. What is my problem?
I have mentioned how Little Miss loves to hoard things. This makes for lots of messes around our house, but she is so good at using her imagination. I love to watch her play. She likes to take trips to the "O-tel"...how sweet is that?! Packing like her momma!
If you have ever shopped with me, you know that I don't like to try on clothes in the store. I just buy them and then return them if I don't like. This happens more often than not. Apparently, this has carried over into the gift buying strategies.
Brian and the kids bought me a TV to put under my cabinet in the kitchen. A gift I really loved. There is something about watching cooking shows while you are cooking. :) It seemed a bit large, so I returned it. Actually, I had Brian return it for me.
The returning didn't stop...
Brian's birthday sometimes gets the backseat because of the kids' birthdays. This year we celebrated a little late. We got him this...
He returned it! Loved it, but I got the wrong bike, a mountain bike. Did he get a new one? No.
This is beginning to be a pattern that saves us a lot of money. Try it. Buy your honey something that they really love and then return it. The initial thrill is there. Just don't get your hopes up for using it in the future.
So, I have what equals about a whole lifetime to catch up on here. I don't have any other excuse other than we have been crazy busy enjoying our summer together. Unlike most summers, I haven't completed any organization projects. In fact, don't freak out, but I didn't even put together a tangible list. This isn't to say that I don't have a ton that has to get done, but I haven't been able to bring myself to do much other than enjoy the kids. I am thankful. Okay, so as a I try to play catch up, try to enjoy the ride. That is if anyone even still reads this thing...
As always, we have a blast visiting my family in OKC. For some reason, I didn't take as many photos. We went to the zoo and celebrated Easter while we were there...good times. Couldn't resist posting pics of Little Miss P as a diva. Poses were not my idea, but hers. What are we in for? :)
I love when the kids can use something that Brian and I had as a kid. I think it holds such sentimental value. I am sure I have posted pictures of a rocking chair that my cousin got for me when I was born. It has my name carved in it. My kids have rocked the fire out of that baby. :) Little Man's favorite blanket was a one that my grandma made for me. We have a lot of little sports items that Brian had as a child too, but my favorite item just surfaced recently.
Little Miss really loves the new version of POOH called My Friends Tigger and Pooh. I mean absolutely adores the show! Well, Grandma Debbie (Brian's mom) found a Pooh that the hospital gave Brian when he was born. This has become one of her little buddies. Look how different this version looks...it makes us feel a little dated! Then look at how angelic Little Miss looks as she sleeps.
Little Man had a friend stay the night! Love summers for this reason. His friend hit a home run last night, so Little Man went with his family to celebrate.
Fast forward to the next day.
Little Man is getting ready for his game and says something to the effect of:
"We all know that I am not going to hit the ball over the fence for a home run, but if I hit the ball in the grass to get a home run...can we celebrate? I mean like you can buy me a baseball necklace."
That's my kid...working the angle every which way...kinda like his momma! This wasn't a home run, but trying to get it done...
Can you hear that girl from Clueless saying, "As if!" Come to think of it, my brain is so jumbled that I am a bit clueless!
I am on my mad summer mission to reorganize, provide some type of learning structure, establish reward incentives for the kids, work on my tan, get some scripture visuals for our weekly bible verse, and R-e-L-a-X. Did you hear me slip in some vanity? :) In midst of all my serious planning, I came across Muffin Tin Monday and I am so thinking I have to do this with the kids...at least a couple of the Mondays this summer. They kind of fall in the "homemade" Lunchables idea. Very cute and I think I can totally make them thematic with the learning activities I have planned.
Let me just tell you...the learning activities are in abundance here on the web. It is really making it hard for me to gather my thoughts! So much to do and only a few months left...ugh! Brian is loving that I make extra work for myself!
We were able to officially begin our summer today! School has actually been out for Brian going on 2 weeks AND Little Man and I had school until June 3. The reason summer finally started for us is because we don't have a 12+ paper to write (ME) and basketball camp to run (Brian). The last couple of weeks have been crazy. Let's just say that our sleep has been a bit limited and our house was a war zone. The kids had SEVERE strep throat too. Awful, awful, awful. My parents were here during that time and really helped take care of them...they also helped fix and redecorate a few things too (more on that later...think zebra stripe...love it). I am sure they were sad to go (we were...Little Miss keeps acting so sad), but happy to get home and rest!
I turned my paper in yesterday and headed off to our local water park with the kiddles, my friend-Mags, and her kids! Despite the rain, we had a good time. We went to Brian's shoot out then were in bed just after 10. For me to be in bed anywhere near 10 is HUGE! What is even bigger is that I woke up, looked at the clock, and it is was 10 AM. People...my kids slept in...let's rephrase that...LITTLE MISS slept in which meant we all got to sleep in! It was even raining...the perfect sleeping in weather! An incredible start to a great day of NOTHING. That's right...absolutely NOTHING. Brian and I can't even remember the last time that we got to DO NOTHING.
In the spirit of NOTHING, I am signing off to watch Toy Story 2 with Little Man which will involve laying on the couch doing NOTHING. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Do you remember the 80's workout set, "Get in Shape, Girl?" I used to love my little set...the streamers, the weights, and the cute leotard outfit. Little Miss sooooo needs one! To think... if I had continued to use it then I wouldn't have to be working so hard to get in shape...girl...I can't help it! The phrase -"Get in Shape" has to have the follow up...G-i-R-L! Anywho, in an attempt to entertain our viewers, I tried googling the song. I want you to have it in your head, driving you crazy too! Well, I found it along with a very scary workout video by Heidi Montag (that girl from the HILLS). I am choosing not to post her video because I wasted 20 seconds of my life that I can't get back and don't want that to happen to you too. Cause I love you. I should be happy because one girl made the same comment, but watched it for the full 4 minutes. It wasn't naughty, just stupid. I should say, I don't think it was naughty. I didn't get past the introduction.
Now, where was I?
Ah, Get in SHAPE, Girl. Take a moment. To reminisce. While eating. Your favorite chocolate cake...
Now that we have taken a trip down memory lane, let me get to the real point of this post (that I am writing when I should be doing my dishes or my 12+ page paper). There is going to be a confession involved, so please brace yourself.
During this past winter, during basketball season...I gained like 20 pounds. There I said it.
I cook AND eat when I am stressed, happy, bored, worried, and during every other emotion out there. Naturally, I like to sample... O-v-E-r sample...my creations. Do you remember my Texas Sheet Cake post?
Unfortunately, this winter I felt crazy stressed and worried. After trying to find an Easter outfit and squeezing myself into my spring/summer clothes, I decided that I better do something about it. I made a goal for myself to loose the weight plus a few more for good measure by July 15 which is my anniversary. Thought I might try to look hot for my hubby while improving my health and self-esteem! I am currently blaming him for the weight gain because he stinking thinks I am hot all the time, always. Apparently, he is blind or just really loves me! :)
I have been running, jump roping, lifting weights, ab workouts (not enough...trust me), Pilates, sweating to exercise videos, and trying to monitor what I eat. This, my friends, has not been an easy task because I love eating and hate exercising. To date, I have lost roughly 15 pounds. While I am proud of my accomplishment, I have 5+ more to lose. I had a minor set back (like 2 weeks worth) with the kids being sick, so I have been trying to get back on track.
Another HUGE reason why I have been on this kick is because I am trying to set a good example for my kids. I had a couple of kid moments that I think are cute and related to my new endeavor.
Little Mr. loves to run the last leg of my journey with me. He uses Brian's iPod Shuffle and sprints WAY in front of me. Kind of dangerous with cars backing out and all, but this family likes living on the dangerous side. This is the outfit he designed for our time together...
Impressive. Smokin' Hot. Crooked.
Just a few words that come to mind.
Did I mention?
Precious and Cute, too!
A classic example of learning how to dress from high school boys. No worries, I passed this shirt on to the dump. Without asking him, of course! They needed it more than he did.
On to Little Miss (I am pretty much abandoning the name Peanut because my family doesn't like it or rather, doesn't think it fits her personality...I am so easily swayed!)...
Today, when I started my jog, it began to drizzle. Rain scares yet delights my little girl. The thundering and lightning stormy part scares her and using her Disney Princess umbrella brings pure delight! In a sweet effort to protect me, Little Miss Thang (does that name work?) gave me her umbrella to use. It absolutely melted my heart. She kindly asked me if I returned it when I drug myself in the house. Should I mention that I didn't take it with me?
I love having a three year old...when she isn't screaming or telling me NO!
I will try to keep you posted on my new adventure. Until then send me your diet pills...totally kidding...well, sort of...you could at least send some tips that will help me lose the rest of my love handles!
