FOOD FOR THOUGHT...too much thought!

Here I sit at 2:52 AM, wide awake.  I am more than aware that I have to get up in just a few hours, but I CAN'T sleep.  After getting home from work, it was like a mad rush.  I took the kids to get their shots, then basketball practice for LM, and then dinner at Frisch's.  I had every intention of cooking dinner, but I promised the kids a treat because they sorta were good sports about getting their shots.  By sorta, I mean that LM cried the whole way there, then put up a huge fight to even sit in the chair...there was a lot of screaming and crying from all parties involved...me included.  Only to end the visit, with..."wow" that wasn't so bad.  Really?  Anywho, Frisch's is by no means my favorite restaurant, but was what they chose as a reward for acting so big while getting their shots (if you didn't get the memo...this was opposite day).  I felt bad for them, so what's a momma to do?  Go to Frisch's.  I needed a Vanilla Coke with crushed ice like a girl needs make-up.  The Ranch dressing served as an extra bonus.  Brian was at a college basketball game with a couple of his players that are being recruited, so it was just the three of us.  It was so cute...we all three sat squashed on the same side of the booth.  Left there only having broke one plate.  Not bad!  We usually go to church on Wednesdays, but I was bound and determined to get the kids home and in bed early because basketball season makes for some late nights and icky colds are setting in.  Getting them to bed was accomplished rather successfully.  So well, in fact, that I fell asleep with them.  Then I woke up at 11:30 and have yet to go back to sleep.  Ugh!
Where am I going with this post?  Not sure, stick with me...after all, it is now 3:13 AM.
I have a gazillion pics and posts that are particularly clever (if I may say so), but I couldn't think of anything other than FOOD.  It has been on my mind rather frequently over the last week or so.   I know that everyone else is on their health kick and this is where I should be (to the tune of like 15 pounds...maybe more....who's counting?), but I can't bring myself to do it.  It is cold, freezing cold and I want some stinking comfort.  COMFORT FOOD.  Maybe I am off my rocker, but I actually thought about making a pot pie.  POT PIE?  I DON'T even LIKE pot pie.  What is going on?  No, I am not pregnant, but thinking maybe I should be just so I can further indulge myself.  I have been reading the pioneer woman's blog and Brian got me her cookbook for Christmas.  LOVE HER and the COOKBOOK.  In fact, I made the Chocolate (Texas) Sheet Cake for my birthday and pretty much ate the whole thing myself.  It was simply divine and uses about 4 sticks of butter.  I actually got mad when I thought Brian ate the last piece.  A bit sad, don't you think?

Chef in the Making

Little Man loves to help me cook and entertain! Occasionally, I will put him in charge of a job. This particular day, we made breakfast for lunch. He was responsible for buttering the toast! Brian was the first to try it!

***I think it is safe to say that Brian was struck with fear when he saw the heart attack on a plate! Mmmmmm...yummy, yummy YUCK! He was a good Daddy and ate it like it was the most delicious thing in the world. I managed to avoid eating this delectable creation.

Oklahoma...Summer Fun

I AM BACK with PICS! We always have a blast in Oklahoma and it was just too hard to pick what pictures to share. Here are the highlights...

Diva "Peanut" was able to stay true to herself the whole week...

Which made me have to find my happy place behind these ever so cute pink shades...

This is my Daddy...isn't he cute! I love being around him for a good laugh or a boost of wisdom!

We celebrated my brother, Cameron's birthday at a Japanese Steakhouse...

We visited a new place called POPS on Route 66...so very retro fun! It is a gas station with hundreds of flavors of pop lining the windows. There is even a little diner inside! Check out the huge pop bottle with straw. This little visit may have inspired me for Little Man's birthday party...

Hanging with Nonny and Poppy...what is Little Man doing?

Celebrated 4th of July...

My mother is a wonderful cook and always has little activities to do with the kids. This trip they made patriotic donuts out of pizza dough and a star cookie cutter. We dipped them in a Nutella glaze, cinnamon sugar mixture, raspberry glaze, and old fashioned glaze...Yum-o!

First time at an actual Fireworks stand to buy fireworks!

We went to see the fireworks in the church van. The kids were having fun in the back with Aunt KeeKee. Lots of laughs...strolled through a very upscale neighborhood to see amateur fireworks, used a port-a-potty, and got a bit lost. You read that right...we were out in the country and had to go old school with a paper map because the GPS wouldn't register.

We spent a lot of time in the backyard playing on the slip'n'slide and splashing around in the pool. Yes, PEANUT is naked in 1st pic...that girl cracks me up...don't think I didn't try to keep her decent!

I had to put this in...this is my sister-in-law, Whitney. I love this girl for many reasons. She is stylish, a big giver, creative, and is so very good to my children. Peanut wouldn't leave her alone! Love ya...Aunt Whitney!

We are super blessed...can't wait to make more memories together!
